First Hand Experience

5 Jan

One travels the breadth of the city in one of the most overused public transport systems at rush hour and waits, in patience, to spend less than an hour making trivial conversation with an acquaintance he has only met thrice before, and then travels back the entire way to the comfort of his home reaching late at night, only to realize that the one and a half hour wait spent in the cold, in the company of street urchins and a dingy tree, was probably the high point of the evening, and not the brief rendezvous itself.
But if that’s what it takes to be able to say, “It was really not worth it” then who is to complain.
