PG Blues – Dad chips in…

13 Jul

As I gear up to spend my last night in this hellish hole that I’ve had to call “home” for 25 days, and to which I have absolutely no attachment to at all, I sit and reflect.
While I was away, a new guy, around my age, decided to drop into the house. And stay.
Yes, yes, I’m being obsessive. But hear me out.

Half an hour ago, I was sitting idle and thought of calling up my Ma. Before I could act, she must’ve read my mind (from many miles away) as she quite beat me to it.

Ma : Hi, where are you?
Me : In my room, where else.
Ma : WHAT? You’re not at the station yet? What time is your train?!
Me : Errr… 7. Tomorrow.
Ma : Tomorrow? Aren’t you leaving tonight?
Me : No… I’m leaving tomorrow. Please tell me you knew that… OMG! Please tell me you booked me on the right day!
Ma : Errr…can you check?

I frantically look at my ticket. The date is quite correct, god bless!

Me : Ma, I don’t believe you!

Ma : I was so sure you were reaching on Monday!

I scold her a little bit. We talk a while, and I hang up.

A few moments later, dad calls. Amidst conversation, I say, “I admire you people! I leave home for a few days and you get another boy into the house!”

Dad laughed, “Oh that? Yes, your mom took us for quite a spin. We could’ve never imagined this. It’s like having another member in the family. You have competition, sonny.”

I boiled. I raged. Yes, I know he probably meant it in jest. But….. this is so not happening!

Next, my aunt will be discovering how well mannered he is in comparison to be, in the backdrop of my new rebellious self… sob!

I’m ostracised without even coming out.

So your family is seeing other children?

But there’s a bright side. When satan comes one day and asks them to sacrifice a soul, they’d probably choose him because he is more athletic and such like.

Whereas my parents would be scared that I would go ahead, unseat satan and take over hell.

You’ll hear a lot more cribbing and crying on the forum… and I do not want to lose my meagre readership.

If they take too much of a liking to him, I’ll accept it and look for a new set of parents who can adopt an adorable child like me…

I’m thinking AbhiAsh at the moment…

No, we love the drama. that’s what makes us keep coming back. That and the great writing.

You don’t want AbhiAsh. They’re too traditional and batshit crazy. I mean the woman married a tree for crying out loud. Plus there would be immense pressure on you.

I heard Maddona is in the market looking for an Indian child to adopt. And she already declined Shilpa Shetty.

And Brangelina are always looking to add to their pack. All their missing is a shade of brown. That’s where you come in.

So don’t worry you still have options.

You are so lucky I read your blog. Who else can provide a solution to hypothetical situations at such short notice? Who else lacks a life?

I despise Brad Pitt! You wouldn’t want me to despise my own adopted father, would you?
Madonna is worth considering, I guess…

I do not have a hidden cam, no! And believe me, you do not want pics. And he did use his towel, failing which I would not be sharing a room with him!

I don’t think he’ll change his underwear in my presence.
I’ll decide whether or not to bug his loo, once I see him this afternoon.

    He’s out to college presently…
